We expect our students to be successful in every aspect of life, which requires a definition of “education” that includes not only academics, but also emotional health, physical wellness and good citizenship skills. Our approach includes time for collaboration and group work along with individualized and small group instruction. Our student expectations are high, but the level of support and encouragement we offer is even higher.
HANDS ON LEARNING
By interacting with and observing the world, and then reflecting upon these experiences, individuals create knowledge. When engaged in hands on learning, students move, explore, hypothesize, create, relate, interpret, and interact with teachers, each other, and the world around them.
At Hess Academy, “Child Centered” is NOT just a slogan. All decisions and educational methods reflect best practices and knowledge about child development. We create an environment of mutual respect, cooperation, and emotional support in the classroom and in the school. Supportive relationships ensure that our school not only feels good to our students but also is good for our students! Learn more about positive discipline here.
